Make it Fun

Dale Carnegie was so right when he said, "People rarely succeed unless they have fun at what they are doing." Working on the event needs to be fun so people will come back and do it again. How can you make it fun? Have music at the meetings? Have wine at the meetings? Ask everyone to wear fun shoes to the meetings? Have a funny prize for a job well done?

People enjoy doing things they are naturally good at, so the most important thing to remember is to put people in roles where they will enjoy the work. The final product will be much better.

Teamwork

Great teamwork builds a successful WW&S event. Delegate and communicate.

A strong committee ensures that all the work won’t fall on the charity staff’s or chair’s shoulders.

Schedule a pre-event team line up on event day.

Focus

Committee chairs should stay focused on their tasks, not someone else’s. Let the event chair oversee everyone else.

Delegate ‘Til You Drop

On the day of the event, the event chair should delegate work to volunteers, staff, committee members and WW&S.

Make sure your committee chairs are managing their respective areas on event day.

Schedule rotating time slots for the committee chairs and members to greet guests at check-in so that they can still manage their committee duties.

She who does not delegate does not enjoy the event!
